Akeelah watched as her enemy’s eyes glazed over when her blade hit its mark. This demon was a lot tougher than she thought it would be but in the end she won. It might have been bigger, it might have been tougher but she still managed to overcome it. With one final thrust just to be safe and one good yank Akeelah let the lifeless body fell to the ground. That was when it struck. She should have seen it come, should have been prepared for it but despite the fact that she knew that the second demon was there it still caught her off guard.
The second that Akeelah turned around the other demon was upon her. Knocking the huntress down to the ground before and knocking the air out of her. The damn thing didn’t even give her the chance to react as it jumped her again and tried to rip her throat out with its teeth. The best that she could do was to draw her arms up and push against the creature to keep it at bay. Akeelah silently cursed herself as she struggled to keep the thing’s snapping jaws at bay. She could have sworn that she knocked the damn beast out a moment ago. The whole fight had been a bit of a blur but she could remember the demon going limp when she slammed it against that tree. This monster had either recovered quickly or it had faked it. Either was she had made a mistake and if she didn’t do something fast it would be a fatal mistake.
She could feel it pushing against her, threatening to overpower by its size alone. In a few more seconds this fight would be over. But Akeelah wasn’t done yet, not by a long shot. In a last ditched effort to free herself Akeelah fought back. With her knife still in hand she stabbed the beast in the eye. The demon screamed in agony and tried to get away but she didn’t let it get too far. The second that the demon got off of her she got back onto her feet and while it was recoiling she got behind it and jumped on its back. Wrapping her free arm around it’s neck and stabbed it repeatedly in the face. The demon screamed again and tried to throw her off but she held on tight. She had no idea how much time had passed by till it finally stopped moving. Reluctantly she stopped and studied the lifeless body for a moment just to make sure it was dead. Slowly she got back up, catching her breath as she glared down at the fallen demon.
“Now stay dead.” She mumbled, taking a look around to assess the damage. It was safe to say that her opponents were dead and thankfully she wasn’t hurt too badly, a bit sore but no major damage. A bit shaken up and her clothes soaked in blood but nothing serious. It could have been worse, much worse. But that thought wouldn’t make things any better. She screwed up badly; if it wasn’t for pure luck that demon would have killed her. Akeelah couldn’t afford to mess up a second time. Suddenly a sound pulled Akeelah out of her thoughts. It was faint but it was enough to tell her that something was out there. Akeelah looked around hoping to spot the source of the noise. Great just what she needed something else trying to kick her ass. “I know that your there,” she said “I’ll give you two choices; you can either turn around and leave or stay here and join your little friends.” She didn’t mind going for another round, maybe she could make up for her previous mistake. Practice makes perfect after all.
