"Well Buffy, we don't know exactly where you'll come out. I mean, this could be a demon dimension we're sending you to and we know those aren't all candy and lollipop's," Willow said as she examined the portal, being careful not to disturb it completely with her magic. The small group had gathered without the slayers in training, the old scoobies taking one last look at it all before Buffy went where no scooby has gone before.
"I don't know Will, I think our chances of the Buffster finding candyland are better with each time she does something like this, so does the chance of going somewhere with nothing but shrimp," Xander added as Buffy gave him a look, "What? It could happen...."
"Look guys, I told you I was going to go through first, I don't care where it goes. Will, if something wrong happens, just bring me back to life again. You're good at that, and I'm pretty sure this qualifies as a mystical death." Buffy said as she picked her scythe up and hugged her two friends.
"Don't I get a say in any of this anymore?" Giles said as he cleaned his glasses, standing as far from the group hug as he could, trying to focus on the task at hand, "Just, be careful going through. If the air doesn't smell right we'll have a magical line of communication going through willow, let her know and we'll bring you back. And if there is anything dangerous--"
"Giles remember who you're talking to," Buffy interrupted.
"...quite so. Well, just... kill anything and make sure you document what you see, alright?"
"Alright, here we go. If anything goes wrong I'll just click my heels three times, it worked for Dorothy," Buffy said as she started toward the portal. Once she was through it and onto the other side she found herself in in what appeared to be the ruins of a small city. Like the type of city you'd find in a small country that wasn't too advanced. There were a few really old broken down cars and the air smelled, well... stale. It smelled familiar.... "Dead people, why does it always have to smell like dead people?"
"It smells like dead people?" Willow's voice said clearly in her head. Magic was a great thing, "Like dead dead people, or living dead people?"
"Like dead dead people. Vampires tend to have this aroma of cocky attitude, this smells more like decay. So either everyone around here didn't get buried or......"
"Or what?"
"Or they are up walking around, eating everything in sight," She said as she noticed three zombies tearing apart a dog, "See, this is why I never had a dog. Images like this. That's it, I quit, I'm going to find a different job. Something that doesn't involve zombies. I don't do zombies. Not since that weird voodoo mask from Junior year."
"Oh the mask of Ovu Mobani?"
"How do you remember this stuff, Will? Anyways, I gotta go. Dead people to kill, same old same old. I know my way back," She said as she felt the magic leave. She charged the zombies with her scythe in hand, cutting down the zombies as quickly as she could before noticing more in the distance, "I should probably keep count of every zombie I kill. I'm sure Giles would be happy that I wrote SOMETHING down, even if it is just the number of zombies I took down...."
She charged the five ahead of her who seemed to be trying to get into a car, taking their heads clean off with her scythe without giving any of them the chance to bite or scratch her.
