(( Year:1800)) Liam walked among the cold darkened, lonely streets of Great Britain. To anyone else he seemed like a normal everyday wander, walking along with the other towns folk, the ones who were all too restless to sleep in their warm beds, or the ones who didn't have homes at all. However Liam proved just by walking among these people that looks could, and were very much deceiving, for Liam was a demon, a strong and powerful one at that. He hummed an Irish tune, a song his mother used to sing to him and his younger brother as a sweet and low lullabye, before dad killed her anyway. As he strode along the dirty beaten paths, his shoulder length hair pulled back, he could hear a screaming from somewhere East from where he stood, now frozen. Liam, who had hit a rebellious stage in his life, vowed to protect all humans, sprinted, not stopping until he found the damsel in distress being victimized by one of Roman's packs. Liam clocked the demon in the face and watched as the demon backed from a waitress Liam recognized from the pub not so far away from here, her name was Rose, if he remembered correctly, and she was known as being tough on the men folk around here, she certainly wasn't one to take no gruff from anyone, and he even respected her for that. " Tell Roman to back off and leave this town alone." He warned the demon who had taken on human form, then he turned to Rose, " You o.k?" He asked, the animal inside him looking over the young woman who was wrapped like a present in fine silks. " You gotta be more careful out here."

As she made her way home in the darkness of the shadows, Rose couldn't help but to look over her shoulder now and again. She recognized the man who was close behind her, he was keeping up with her pace, weather she increased it or not, this was one of those she had made the mistake of being a little too friendly with at the bar, and now he had that look in his eyes, the one the men folk had gotten when they were about to take the innocence away from some virgin or something.
Rose took into running, he was close behind now, his arms swinging closed as though he was trying to pull someone into a hug. His toothless grin made him look like some vile creature, and he smelt like that too the more Rose thought about it. What made him worse was that there was no mistaking it, he was chasing her.
Rose let out a scream, the toothless man had stumbled and got her long gown caught up, this gave him the advantage as he resumed his position of standing erect and managed to throw his arms around Rose at almost that same instant. " Let go of me." Rose demanded, god did he ever smell ill, she had no idea what was stonger, the drink coming off of his breath, or the body odor that he carried around with him.
The stranger's arms squeezed tighter around her torso where her arms were squished to her sides, she screamed again, louder this time as she wriggled and tried to free herself, his strength was great, and Rose was about to give up her struggle and just let him take her like what her mother had said to do in a gentleman's presence when like an angel a tall and strapping stranger appeared, he used his hand which he curled into a fist to throw back the foul creature.
" Tell Roman to back off and leave this town alone." She heard her hero say, she wondered who Roman was, and how this beautiful man could ever know something that hideous, the man than turned, after watching the pig scatter off, he commented to her how dangerous it was and that she shouldn't be out here by herself.
To this Rose felt herself blush, something she rarely did in the company of men, to her blushing was just a sign that a lady wanted to do the act however they were too trained to just come right out and say it. " It's a good thing I'm not alone then." Rose said, and by a second she was by the strapping stranger's side sliding her arm around his. " I'm Rose, by the way." She added, getting all the formalities out of the way before she allowed him to escort her home.

" Rose." Liam said the name quietly to himself as the pair started walking along a path which was illuminated by the faint light generating from the moon, " That's a pretty name for a young gentle flower like yourself. My name's Liam."
They remained quiet for some time after the introduction, Liam walked slowly with the young lass who clung to his arm, he wondered what his father was going to say once Roman went back to him with word of his heroism. He could just imagine everyone down home in the demon world when they found out he had just jumped one of his own to prevent him from killing this young girl. This was a thought that made him smile, as he turned his head to steal a glance at the flower who stood beside him.
He remembered hearing a little bit about this girl when he was on the drink at the pub himself, rumor had it that the young lass, no more than eighteen at the time, was daughter to a soldier, it brought a question to mind, she was considered to be high class, " So why d'you waste yer time with the pub anyway?" He dared to ask. A worst case senario would be she not answer his question and they continue their walk in the peaceful quietness.

She couldn't tell if this was a serious inquiry or a joke of a question, either way she decided she would answer it all the same. Taking a deep breath before she done so. " Well," She began her eyes wandering the beautiful green hillside they walked beside, telling him all about her father who went off to war quite frequently as it was his duty as a soldier to fend off the opposition who threatened to attack Great Britain, he didn't leave them much money when he left, only what he thought they would need to get by, to survive at least.
When Roses' father would leave, he never did take into consideration, mother's prior illness, she had dementia, and some days it would be hard enough to have her speak to you in a telligable mannor, that being so, Rose needed money to provide care for her mother. " With the money I make from working at the pub, I can hire someone to stay with mother, someone who knows how to hanlde the situation better then myself." She finished, it was nice to be able to speak with someone else who was outside of the situation.

" That doesn't seem very fair if you ask me." Liam stated in his far too opionated point of view. He had heard of the disease called dementia, it really worked on the mind, it had the tendancy to make the victim see things that weren't there, speak to people who could only be seen by them. In fact, sometimes Liam wondered if dementia was actually a gift, something like a demon power, but that was never confirmed so he would continue to go on wondering about that for the rest of his life possibly.
" How old are you Rose?" He dared to ask, immediately wishing he hadn't, it wasn't polite to ask a woman her age and she didn't know how she would take such a question, especially a woman of her stature.

Rose only chuckled, she didn't see this burden as being unfair at all, she had actually seen it as freedom and responsibility. She had to fight to get her job and she liked it, perhaps she would even go so far as to say that she loved working at the pub. The men who walked threw the doors weren't always kind or gentle like the men she was used to being around, on the contrary they were strange and acted like animals the more they went on the drink.
She wanted to work for what she had, and she wanted to be able to afford the medical costs for her dear mother who was ill and needed the care, it gave her a sence of independance, something that a woman of their time had none of.
He had asked her for her age, something that she had thought no man would dare to do, and she blushed slightly but answered him anyway. " I'm eight teen." she answered, then her curiousity stirred, " And yourself, Liam?" She asked him/

Liam blushed and ran a hand nervously through his hair, he than proceeded to pull on the rather tight tie that clung to his neck, suddenly feeling as though he was being suffocated by it. How could he tell this eight teen year old woman that he was in fact a Three hundred plus year demon? He wondered.
" Twenty Five." He lied smoothly, " I'm twenty five." This was something Liam was sure he could pass off. He had to admit it was the perk of being a demon, looking young for as long as he lived. Sure it would probably get in the way of a normal relationship, not just with Rose, but with any woman, as they would age, he would not. Liam sighed at this thought, this would be a bridge they would have to cross, if and when he came to it. He doubted it would come to it though, with the death rate this city seen he almost wondered if she would even make it that long.
Liam turned his head down towards her again, she looked inviting almost walking in the light of the moon that gently touched her smooth flawless skin. This was the first human he had ever met that he would have tried to protect from Roman and his pack, this feeling scared him to no avail, it would be interesting to see just how far it would go.

He lied, she had no recollection on how she knew this, perhaps it was the way he took that extra moment to answer her, or perhaps it was the way he looked far into thought before he answered, whatever it was, it was certainly an odd thing to lie about, but she ignored this, once he took her home it would probably not go any further than that. She could go, tell her friends stories about the handsome stranger who rescued her while she was in need of rescuing, about how perfectly handsome he was and after he walked her home, he just left.
She really prefferred for this one to stay around for a while, even if he did lie about his age, he seemed nice enough gentleman, unlike most in this town, to be court worthy enough. At this thought she hid behind a mask of happiness and contentness, hiding the fact that she would be bitterly disappointed once he left her this evening.

Liam took another long inhale and turned his head quietly towards the star filled night sky, now, the sound of the footsteps hitting the soft sand on the path was all either of them would hear, oh how he wished he was just a normal human, a real boy so to say, someone who didn't have to lie about things that regular everyday people were free to tell the truth about. Things like, age, or where he was born. Simple things that humans were freely able to talk about.
Once again Liam looked down at Rose's head, he would drop her off home and then run, just run away, out of town maybe. He would not near her long enough to just end up breaking her heart- or her neck someday. No, he would assure her safety and then leave town, pick up north of America maybe, he had heard Canada was a developing country, and it was cold there. Nice and cold.
Liam managed a smile, they were nearing town, he could tell from the way the path was no longer as clear as it once was, signs of villigers footsteps were displayed in the dirty sand below. Liam even had to stifle a laugh as his eyes became caught upon a pair of white knickers on the side of the road, quickly he turned his head away from the jumbled up fabric, his eyes could spot the silohette of houses, they were nearing Rose's home, soon he would drop her off and he would be alone.

From where they were she could see the house, standing where they were it looked so small from how far away it was, although at the same time it felt too close for Rose. She stole yet again another look at the tall, dark and handsome stranger, disappointment tugging at her. She allowed herself to lean her head up against the strong arm which she clung to and her mouth moved ever so silently. " Shoot." she said, as if only to herself.
They continued to walk in silence, the night time air hitting her face, she was surprised she had only noticed just now how much cooler it had gotten in such a short time, it was a good thing she would be returning home soon, she would be able to spend an hour by the fire before bedtime so that she could reflect on her short time with tonight's beautiful guardian angel who had rescued her in her time in need. This brought a smile to her face as they quickly approached the front door. Where behind it awaited for Rose an ill mother who would no doubt wake her up in the morning rambling on about silly hallucinations. Yes poor Rose was not going home to anything special like everyone thought.

They neared the house, soon they stood in before the stairs leading up to the house, Liam's foot dug into the loose pieces of sand at the bottom landing while something foreign inside of him stirred. Rose, this girl who he had only seen before now, who he never actually taken the time to get to know, was now leaning against him and he found himself to be enjoying the feeling he had when he was near her, as she happened to be the first human who he was able to be around not having that natural urge to not kill.
Liam turned to Rose. " So...." He started trying to fill the awkward silence which seemed to come between them. " I guess this is where I leave." He didn't realize until just now that he was still holding her fragilie dainty hand in his own, but now that he did he gently glided it towards her and placed his lips ever so tenderly on her fingers. After wards, he held the hand there, stealing a glance on her large dark brown eyes where he was able to see his own reflection mirroring there in them. God how he wanted to stay here with her, but he couldn't, if he did, in the end it would only be heart breaking for the both of them. He needed to go, to get far away from her to prevent himself from hurting her. It was a feat easier said than done.
